ICS Research launch 08.jpg
REPRO FREE: 19/09/13: Pictured is an alternative packet of cigarettes at the launch of research that shows plain cigarette packaging would deter children from smoking. The research, which was commissioned by the Irish Cancer Society and Irish Heart Foundation, shows how effective cigarette branding is and how it is used by the tobacco industry to entice children to start smoking. A coalition of children and health organisations is supporting legislation that will make it illegal for cigarette companies to use colour, text and packet size to market cigarettes. The legislation, which is due to be published shortly, will remove one of the last remaining marketing tools used by the tobacco industry. Picture Andres Poveda.
