ESBI Women in Enginerring 04.jpg
Aisling Walsh from Loreto Foxrock and Catriona Houston of Mount Sackville Secondary School are pictured at the three day ‘Women in Engineering’ Transition Year Programme, organised by ESB International, which is celebrating 40 years in business this year. The annual programme gives female Transition Year students a fascinating insight into the career of an engineer, to encourage them to consider engineering as an option for their future professions.
Recent research has revealed that more women in Ireland are now choosing a career in engineering as they recognise the variety of opportunities available to them in critical areas such as technology and energy. Activities over the three day programme at ESB International offices included an introduction to engineering, a meet and greet with some of ESB’s female engineers and site visits to key ESB projects.
