Stephanie Preissner, Writer of Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope stopped by St Columba’s School, North Strand, Dublin to launch the Arts Council and ESRI study on children and the arts and the impact of arts and cultural participation on Irish children. The major longitudinal study portrays deep insights into the engagement of over 19,700 children in a range of activities across multiple contexts including home, school and community, and measures the impact on a child’s cognitive development and emotional wellbeing. The research also takes account of children’s engagement in popular culture, including television viewing and digital engagement, as well as involvement in music, dance and drama lessons and in reading for pleasure.
