Repro Free: 12/05/2015 Pictured at the launch of the ‘Gut Decisions – Leading change to improve the lives of people with Crohn’s and colitis’ report at Buswells Hotel was Dr Glen Doherty, Consultant Gastroenterologist, St Vincent’s University Hospital and Chair of the ISG IBD Quality Steering Committee with one of the 20,000 Irish sufferers David Nolan from Castleknock and Patricia McArdle, Chairperson of the Irish Society of Colitis and Crohn’s disease (ISCC). The report is the first ever national assessment of the difficulties faced by the estimated 20,000 Irish people living with Crohn’s and colitis.
Today’s report, which was compiled with the support of biopharmaceutical company AbbVie, was developed by a steering group comprising patients with Crohn’s and Colitis and healthcare professionals and combines two separate surveys to fully capture both the gaps in available services and the socio-economic impact of the conditions on individual patients.
